Aesop S Fables
(Aesop)

Publicidade
Of all the self help books this must be the most under rated.
At first glance Aesop appears to be serving us amusing anecdotes for children, but an underlying theme of wisdom in day to day living is forever present.
It is thought that initially Aesop's writings were social commentaries on the political system in those ancient times.
Written in the style of parables and fables Aesop conveys messages that give a remarkable insight into greed, anger, jealousy etc. Read the fables and you will soon associate neighbours, friends, family, and acquaintances with the remarkable animals, and come to an understanding of their behaviours.
Reading Aesop's Fables provides an almost unconscious learning of everyday life. Details of how to organise your life, and deal with changes are given in an endless stream of subliminal messages hidden in thoroughly enjoyable stories.
The origins of Aesop are unclear, but it is said he lived in Greece sometime around 600 BC, and that he narrated the stories without leaving a written record. It was up to scolars and philosophers to later scribe the fables so that they may not be lost in the years to follow.
The popularity of Aesop's fables is such that they are found throughout the world in libraries and schools and are revered by some as second only to the Holy Scriptures. There are so many instances of excerpts from fables finding their way into everyday language that many people can quote Aesop's works without actually having read him.
Sayings such as 'One man's meat is another man's poison' has been adapted from the fables along with 'the wolf in sheep's clothing' as well as many many more.
Aesop teaches without lecturing. He manages to raise a smile with each tale and gets us nodding subconsciously in agreement with the hidden sentiments.
Use this book for reading to children at bedtime, and once they are snuggled up safe and sound curl up in a comfortable chair and read it for yourself.
It's an experience for the whole family.
