Today word processing software can no more be compared to the typewriter then the first airplanes to today's jetliners. We are talking a whole different class. Even the early word proccessing software was a cry from what we have today in programs such as word 98. When was the last time you got a typewritten letter or report with erasures or correction fluid? Can't remember? The age of the type writer is all but gone . Small mistakes used to be ignored or corrected by hand if it meant re typing the whole document. Now mistakes are easily and quickly correctedwhen you use the progr5ame like word 98.
Text can be deleted or shifted from one place to another. Changes can be made so easily that we have come to expect almost instant production of documents. Even with the speed at which documents can be created and corrected , it is still important to proofread the document to ensure that it is of high quality.
One of the most prime concerns for business is that the documents they produce not only accurately convey the right message , but that they look like they come from progressive professional organizations. Individuals, too, are judged by the documents they produce. Employers will tell you that the resume 's cover letter they receive from job applicants fall far short of what they would expect from professionals Most colleges are now dedicating at least part of a course to job interviewing and writing resumes. How you look in print may determine whether an employer ever sees you face to face.
