Reading Relates to Success
Do you enjoy reading books or would you like to hitch a ride to work? Seems like a silly question. Believe it or not, the more a person reads the more likely they are to be successful in life. Reading builds vocabulary. Having a strong vocabulary gives a person a clear advantage over those that don?t. When I was in elementary school, I really didn?t care much for reading or doing my vocabulary homework. Too boring. Just didn?t seem to fit in with my after-school play time or any other part of life. Then much later, I needed to earn money, more than I ever dreamed just to survive. Well, guess what? The more I read, the stronger my vocabulary, the more I rubbed shoulders with corporate big wigs. While consulting for a Fortune 300 company, I rode in the Corporate Financial Officer?s personal car and held a conversation with him. Not bad for someone who only had a high school education. As time went on I read more. I mingled with the well-read. My income increased with each year.
I can truly say that, in early life, when someone told me that with increased vocabulary came increased financial opportunity, I just turned the other way and wrote it off ? until I tried it. It is amazing!
So even if you don?t like to read, go ahead, find books that you like. Increase your vocabulary. It can only do you good!
So, I?ll ask the question again. Do you enjoy reading books or would you like to hitch a ride to work? Reading can make the difference between hitching a ride to work and driving your own car. You can be more successful even before you get a college degree.
