This book is one of a series of excellent books on effective,   non-medicinal therapeutic measures(like   Acupressure,Acupuncture,Naturopathy,Magnet therapy,Reiki,etc) written   by Dr.Dhiren Gala. The primary focus of the book is on another such   non-medicinal mode called MUDRA Therapy, in which different diseases   are treated by holding and retaining the fingers and the thumbs in   different ways.      Being a miniature universe, the human body is composed of five elements   namely Agni(fire), Vaayu(air),Akaash(space),Prithvi(earth),Jal(water)   represented by the Thumb, Index finger, Middle finger, Ring finger and   the Litttle finger respectively.Good health is a result of a fine   balance of these five elements and an excess or a deficiency of any one   or more of these undermines health and causes disease.      After specifying the guidelines and do's and Don'ts, the author goes on   to mention the methods of performing various MUDRAS(postures of fingers   and thumb) and their consequent effects and benefits along with some   beautiful illustrations.There are mudras for cold,anger, sinusitis,   stress and a whole lot of other conditions.Personally, I have   benefitted from mudras(stress relief and cold) and I perform them(   Uttarabodhi,Pushaan,Vaayu shamak) on a daily basis.       Mudra therapy is  safe,effective,simple,inexpensive and easy to   perform. The author however has the humility to state in his preface   that if a disease persists or seems to be getting worse after a   religious practice of mudras, then one ought to consult the family   doctor/physician.
