He didn't report about this to his mother and keeps quiet. Then, they brings Margaret Kochamma and Sophie Mol to the Ayemenem House. Afterwards, Ammu became attracted to the Paravan worker - Velutha and falls in love with him. Durinfg this, the children - Rahel, Estha and Sophie Mol - is plotting to go on a boat journey to teach their family about their value. But during the boat journey, the boat collapeses and the Sophie Mol disappears. Then the search for the children begins. Then Vellya Paapen - the father of Velutha - reports in dumb loyalty to the Ayemenm family that his son and Ammu has serious sexual relationship with each other. This triggers the beginning of the tragedy. The family gives a false statement to the police that Velutha had abducted Ammu. The police kills Velutha. Afterwards, an enraged Chacko saddened by the death of his daughter and angered by his sister Ammu and her children as well for their part in his loss orders them to go out of the house. So Amuu seeks a job for keeping her family with her loss of her dear lover Velutha. But she passes off in a hotel room. Estha was sent back to his father and Rahel was kept in kerala. Estha was mentally broke down by the sexual abuse and Rahel emigrates to America and marries a man, but divorces after a short period. She returns to Kerala to see her broken down brother who was sent by his father to Kerala. She falls in love with him, and had sexual realtionships with him. This story is intricately plotted like Ulysses of James Joyce.
