changing position of Indian women

Gandian non-cooperational movement brought a fundamental social change . It brought a revolutionary change in the position of womenof India.In 17thand 18th century women enjoyed more freedom and high status . Rani laxmi bai and Begum Rajia sultan are the few example of women ,who had enjoyed high status . In that time women were treated as goddess but in the half of 18th century the women had very sunk and low position during this period.They were secluded behind 'purdah' . they were deprived of the facilities of the education . Child marriage ,widowhood kept them under subjection.They were kept with in the four wall of the house.But Gandian movement brought a great change .It brought the women at the forefront of national struggle for independence.Gandian ji used untapped power of women.
Now we move towards the 19th century,and see what they had in 19th century.The recent history of women's against the child marriage,widowhood,dowary etc. In 1970s the doway related death of young womenwhich came to the public notice s,so the government initiate legislative changes to shield thewomen from the pernicious dowry system. Despite all legislative safeguade over the past 15 year combat this problem of dowary death has continue to grow and spread . It is estimated that over the 100000 crimes against women are commited their husband and other releative .
But the good news is that more and more women are daring to resist harassment if nessary by registering official complaint .And also several organisation in different part fof country are very active.
Now come in 20th century . Acc. to the sensus 2000 about 67.83 women were illiterate .And it was very surprising that at the same time women responded far more enthusiastically than men to the "total literacy campiagn" launched by government. The growing presence and sucess of women in high profile professions and enterprise is obvious even to naked eye. However majority of Indian women are trapped in large ,unorganised sector of labour ,agriculure ,domestic area where they work with no job security.so,now the days women are everywhere at the front whether in the field of education , industry ,agriculture and can work in extremly diffcult condition.Kalpana Chawla and Saniya Mirza are few example of women of 20th century.
All this shows the real character of india women ,and indian women are always ready to face any kind of problem.Now they are in defence,they areengineer etc .
so,no doubt "women are always fountain head of country".
