The Devil's Teeth
(Casey; Susan)

Publicidade
I am definitely an eclectic reader so when I read a review of The Devil's Teeth by journalist Susan Casey I was not going to pass up an opportunity to get to know more about the Great White Sharks she writes about not only with expertise but with fondness as well.

The sharks in Devil's Teeth are remarkably different than any sharks I've ever read about. I am way too much of a coward and can't even swim so to have any knowledge beyond the written word just wasn't going to happen. Did I learn a lot from Casey's work? You bet.

Did you know that for 3 months of the year, the largest number of Great Whites congregate 35 miles from the San Francisco coast off the Southeast Farallon Islands which have been ? No kidding folks it's happening every year. Our government funds scientific research to develop an understanding of these mammoth creatures who can grow as large as 18' in length and as wide as a 16 wheeler.

Casey through pure tenacity and dilligence is finally able to receive permission from the government to visit the island and the 2 biologists who make the study of Great Whites their main source of work and income. Her first visit allowed her only a one-day trip but later she was given permission to stay much longer.

The book delivers a thrill a minutes as Casey accompanies the biologists down the face of the island rocks and into the water on the little boat affectionately known as the "flying saucer". What is revealed in these visits is so unusual that if you aren't planning on reading this book, you have missed a Great White education of a lifetime. Only improvement would be if you were actually there.
