The Crown

The crown is a very ancient thing and its wearing considered a mark of honour and dignity. Even in ancient times, When man lived a barbarous life and did not much know the use of garments , tha chief of the tribe used to decorate his head with ; In ancient perioud the mean of crown was a circular ring made of the tender twig and its leaves and flowers.
It was the custom among the greeks taht the man who returned after performing some heroic exploit decked his head with the branch of palm tree. Some historians think that the first man to wear the crown was Namaroid, King of Babylon. It is recorded in one of the histories of the Iranians that Houshang was the firswt king of the wear the ornamental crown on his head , and whoever succeeded him continued the practice of wearing cowries in their crowns.
They added to the number of cowries every year which showed how many years had elapsed since their accession to the throne.
