The Cottage

Former silver screen star Coop Winslow drives his gleaming Rolls-Royce into the grounds of his palatial home called The Cottage, modeled after an eighteenth century french chateau and surrounded by fourteen acres of park and perfectly manicured gardens in the very heart of Bel-Air. In his prime he was known for his allure to women, and he oozed with such great charm and now he is forced to face the possibility of losing his home to bankruptcy. His years as a playboy and a very lovable one at that had reduced him to his present state. His Accountant Abe delivers the bad news that he would have to let go all his staff as he is no longer able to afford to pay them. Coop still living in his deluded world of stardom and prestige had ignored Abe's warnings of his spending habits for two years and promised that he was in the running for a big role in holywood, but at the ripe age of seventy, although,he looked not a day over fifty five was a bit long in the tooth to command leading roles. Of late he had only been offered very few cameos whch earned him only about two hundred thousand dollars as opposed to his formal earnings of ten to fifteen million dollars per film. Coop finally attains new tenants Mark Friedman and Jimmy O'Connor who had experienced very life changing experiences and tragedies. Mark's wife of sixteen years had just walked out onhim and Jimmy had only just recently buried his own wife through a devastating illness. And soon The Cottage is turned upside down when Mark's teenage son and daughter move in: music blaring in all corners and teenagers unceasing crash into Coop's prized vintage cars. Inspite of their differences Coop soon develops very close friendships with these men and he himself starts to change in ways that he never thought would be. However a tabloid scandals soon threatens Coops budding romance with a very wealth debutante. Danielle steel tells a story of how the unexpected turn of events shapte the characters lives.
