Inside the sewers of New York the most awful horror fantasies of the wanderers seem becoming true. Some corpses appeared decapitated and the police investigations get lost inside the underground tunnels of Manhattan. The people of the dephts talk about beasts and cannibals. Awful creatures that live in the most unfathomable part of the island. Abandoned subway tunnels, big and rusty sewers and old ruined refuges of obsessive millionaires are the complete hidden face and the undergroud history of New York. This situation changes when there are found in "The Big Apple" two corpses whithout identification,a dead body holding the daughter of a wealthy New York family.The mutilations and the beheadings of the bodies show the connection whith the rest of the murders. The main character of this book, a tenant, is in charge of this investigation. An anthropologist, who helps the police, found that the crimes are related with an awful experience that she lived in the basements of the Natural History Museum, where she bumpend with a terrible beast. This case calls the attention of the press agencies. A reporter gets contact with the wanderers of the subways of Manhatan and they tell him ill-fated stories of refuged cannibals in the dephts of the island. Stories of horror are narrated at the doors of hell, which is near.
