The writer Paulo Coelho, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1947, entered into the literary world as a script writer for the theatre, working simultaneously as a man of letters, journalist and script writer for Brazilian television. Among his first works are found such books as The Pilgrim from Compostela (Diary of a Mage) (1987) and The Alchemist (1988). With these, Paulo Coelho started on a road full of successes that earned him the title as one of the greatest living authors of our time. He has been published in many different countries in 60 different languages. But today I will talk about one of his most recent books, Brida, a spectaular and very successful novel. Brida is a novel based on a true story of captivating beauty, that of the Irish girl, Brida O'Fern. At the age of twentyone, Brida meets a Mage, whom she asks to help change her into a witch. In order to do this the girl must overcome a series of obstacles which make her change her concept of life. She will discover, along with the reader, that love is the only way to reach the spiritual world and that it transforms us because when we love we want to be better than we are. So, I hope you enjoy this latest offering from the great author as much as I did.
