How To Write A Screenplay
(John Costello)

Publicidade
For those about to embark on the grueling task that is their first screenplay, this little guide is essential, a POCKET ESSENTIAL to be exact. Unlike the tomes and workshops which seem to be standard issue, Costello's HOW TO WRITE A SCREENPLAY is a quick read without skipping any of the major points; theory or practice exercises, and is truly beneficial for that reason. Writing a script takes long enough with out having to read four hundred plus pages from a textbook style guide. While aimed at novices and beginners this title has enough to supplement any filmmaker?s library. Screenwriting conventions such a PLOT POINTS, ACT CONSTRUCTION, GENRE, CHARACTER BREAKDOWN and FORMATTING are all present, just as they would be in a fourth year film school text. For the price, the size, user friendly approach and over all quality this guide should not be overlooked. Other guides such as the SCREENWRITERS WORKSHOP by script guru Syd Field offer tutorial based exercise learning; HOW TO WRITE A SCREENPLAY reads more like a manual, a guide, and an insider look at the most attempted literary form. As well as the basic content present in most guides, this title offers a unique analysis and explanation of industry trends, expectations, guidelines and scripting pitfalls. There are also detailed contact lists with helpful resources ranging from websites to writers guilds, all of which aimed at giving any potential scribe the tools, information and guidelines to not only attempt a career in film writing but to thrive in it. For being simple, helpful, USEFUL and informative this title excels where many others fail, that said this title aims to demystify the industry and treats its readers as peers, a trait that is extremely appealing and refreshing coming from a Hollywood professional. Of course you cannot over look the most obvious and fun advantage of a POCKET ESSENTIAL book, it actually fits in your pocket. Nice...
