Hindu Predictive Astrology.

Chapter-1: Necessity for the study of Astrology.

Various theories assume that there is a link between the
stars and planets on the one hand and terrestrial phenomena
on the other. Some people believe that fortunes of men,
countries, and empires or for that matter whatever entities
exist on this earth are related in some way or other to
celestial happenings. There are others who deny any
connection between the two. A theory can be proved right or
wrong depending on whether it works satisfactorily in
practice. Astrological theory is no exception.

Astrology, termed as a science, had reached considerable
perfection in India centuries ago. Western interpretations
correlate Aster- a star and Logos ? logic to coin the word
Astrology. It is called Hora meaning studies relating to
time in India. It is also called ?Jyotish?- the eyes of the
Vedas. The storehouses of all knowledge are the Vedas and
Jyotish (Astrology) are its eyes. Such is the importance
attached to Astrology.

In fact nobody can deny the effects of planets upon human
beings. A certain subtle power, the ethereal power is
responsible for whatever takes place on earth. The Sun, the
Moon and other celestial bodies affect us by virtue of
their proximity to the earth. The science of astrology
predicts the future based on the previous (in earlier
lives) karma (work) of man as indicated by the planetary
positions at the time of birth.

Further chapters of the book will follow in due course for
the benefit of the readers.
