The book is a depiction of how the people of Italian and Sicilian origin gave birth to organised Crime in the the US. These crime Syndicates virtually formed a cartel of sorts holding the ordinary public to ransom and ruled the Shark Loan and Gambling Trade. The freedom with which bloodshed and violence was resorted to by these groups is an eyeopener. The nexus between the law enforcing agencies and the infighting between the rival gangs also reveals the apathy in the Administrations Hallways in dealing effectively with the problem at hand. The connections between the Tinsel town Industry and the Mafioso are also brought out very lucidly. The book brought out in different editions is very nicely illustrated with Stills from the Hollywood production that goes by the same name.
A sequel to the movie going by the name of Godfather 2 was also produced and it fared eqully well on the big screen.Converted very successfully into an all time Hollywood hit with Marlon Brando in a ground breaking Role.
