The Assignment
(Mark Andrew Olsen)

Publicidade
What if one man really had been alive for two thousand years? What if he couldn?t die despite the most horrific torture imaginable? Mark Andrew Olsen delivers a clever tale that grips the reader from the first sentence. Whether you are interested in Israel, Palestine, religion, politics or simply a good read then this novel has it all.

The story travels around the world visiting the USA, Europe and Israel. The characters are interesting and at times dramatic adding to the depth and flavor of the story. There is plenty of action, a hint of possible romance and more than enough intrigue to keep the reader hooked. Add to this the clever journal entries of the two thousand year old character and the readers imagination is entertained throughout every page.

Olsen manages to weave controversy and challenge into the pages of this well scripted drama. The reader is thoroughly entertained while at the same time confronted with sensitive topics that require a response. For example, how do you feel about the conflict raging in the Middle East? What would be the implications for you if a man really had lived for two thousand years carrying out a mission from his creator? What burdens are you carrying that weigh you down and prevent you from reaching your full potential? How would you respond the pressures of being immortal?

Each character is completely believable and the reader is engaged with many at a personal and intimate level. The main character, the immortal man, is vulnerable and real with many of his faults examined and on full display. The young female American university student is reclusive and very likeable and the seven priests secretively protecting the immortal man are fascinating.

The Assignment delivers on many levels and is an intelligent, emotional and stimulating read.
