Divine Secrets Of The Ya-ya Sisterhood
(Rebecca Wells)

Publicidade
This is the marvelous story of love that bind a mother and a daughter. Until Siddalee Walker was forty, she never understood the complexities of her relationship with her mother. Instead she remembers the welts of her father's belt on her shoulders from her mother when she cracked in her moment of madness and her inability to cope with four young children. Viviane Abbot Walker formed the Ya-Ya sisterhood when she was young with Teensy, Caro and Necie. In a secret ritual they made a blood compact to seal their friendship for life which included their children. Sidda, Vivi's daughter was unwittingly conned by a New York Times reporter to reveal her mother's whipping when interviewed. It escalated into a scandal which has alienated her from her family and the ya-yas. The ya-ya petites or children were allowed to watch her play though. She wanted to direct a play about women's friendship so she asked her mother to lend her ya-ya scrapbook. The other ya-yas gave their approval and her mother was concerned about the postponement of her wedding to Connor and soften her attitude a little bit. The scrapbook awakened her memories and she called Caro for more information. She gave her some but it was still not complete. All she feels is her missing her childhood and the ya-yas. The three ya-yas gave her a surprise visit when she was on a solitary holiday and they brought with them a dish from her mother and other goodies from home. She slowly began to understand the difficult relationship between her maternal grandmother, Buggy and Vivi, her time at the convent which made her ill and brought home by Teensy and her mother, the death of Jack Whitman, her true love in the war and the deterioration of Genevieve Whitman after. Finding a key in the scrapbook made her remember the story of Lawanda, the elephant. She was terrified so she missed the ride and her mother had to find a way for her to be able to ride the elephant after the show. The incident made Sidda realized how deep a mother's love goes even if she got the belt before. She has recounted this to Connor. She has learned that her mother will be celebrating her birthday in October instead of December so they can have it outdoors. Connor suggested that it was the opportunity to return Vivi's scrapbook and he fancies marrying her there. The three ya-yas had invited him to Thornton. She wrote her mother about coming and Vivi did not give a hint if she would be welcoming or not. She just asked when the wedding is on. And so Connor and Sidda decided to come. There was a tropical storm when they arrived in Houston and it took a while to clear for them to fly to Thornton. By the time they arrived it was late and most guests were gone. Mother and daughter were apprehensive at first but after awhile they opened up their hearts to forgive and reveal their love for each other. Vivi gave the diamond ring she got from her father on her 16th birthday which she pawned in a moment of madness and recovered. Sidda gave her a unique vial to store her tears as they both cried in joy and appreciation of each others love. In seven days Sidda accepted Connor's proposal and they married in Thornton. It was glorious with the ya-yas singing a song of affection for her.
