you
read about an Australian convict who writes a
book
named
Shantaram.well i don't know about you but my
first
thought
was that the writings of a man who has lived
his
life
on
the edge is definitely worth a read. my
instincts
proved
correct.the book starts with his brief stay in
mumbai
which is
actually meant to be a stopover leads to such a
bond
between him and the city that he decides to
stay
back.he
befriends a guide named Prabhaker with whom he
visits
his
village and is named Shantaram by Prabhaker's
parents.
he starts staying in a
slum in mumbai ,opens a clinic and treats the
people of
the slum with
the help of his limited medical knowledge.He
develops
great
affection for the owner of the slum Khaderbhai
where he
stays who is also known to be a powerful mafia
don
in
mumbai and ends up working for the mafia.He
gets
arrested by
mumbai police and is tortured in Arthur road
jail.this
is
one trait of his that you truly admire when you
read
the
book ,he has an amazing endurance power ,an
ability
to
survive in the toughest of situations.he is an
extremely
loyal friend who is willing to go to any limit
to
help
those he loves.he is not flawless at all ,in
fact
has a
lot
of flaws but his ability to emerge stronger
each
time
is
truly commendable .in any case it's a must
read.there
are
some leasons which only life and circumstances
can
teach
you.i am sure you will learn a lot from the
life of
Mr
Gregory David Roberts.
