Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
(Douglas Adams)
In a few minutes Earth will be destroyed because it hinders building of a new highway. What do you think of it? - nobody is interested in your opinion. The Universe is huge and the fate of meaningless planet is nothing for this Universe's inhabitants. But there is one hitchhiker that will tie his own destiny with homeless people from the Earth who are lost in a galaxy just like Earth's president that is wanted by security sevice for abandonig his duties. The only person having deeply established though far from positive opinion about surrounding world is the next companion of the journey, Marvin the Robot. Tha author in a quite deceitful and humorous ways challanges our opinion that I - The Man and We - The Humans are most important in the Universe. He shatters belief that there are two groups: humans and the rest or we and them. In Adams' novel humans are the part of them group which is insignificant for Universe in its everyday life. This shock makes the reader and the travelling pilgrim more humble and open to the world they are about to know - and the world is full of absurd, odds and ridicule in a galactic scale comparing to which our Earth's ones are no match.
