Extreme Christianity
(Vic Zarley)
What would it be like if all Christians truly followed Jesus? commands? You know, love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you, turn the other cheek? Would our world become chaotic?or would a sanity we can?t even comprehend spread around the world as we all prepared for His return? Extreme Christianity, provides motivation to actually follow Jesus? commands. The book has twenty-five chapters with such intriguing titles as Oh, No, Defiled Again, Why We Should Trust Each Other Completely, Suffering in Compliance or Suffering in Defiance, The Good Samaritan, It?s a Log Meet Log World, Who?s Pulling Our Strings, and Can Christ Ascend in Us? God wants us to have a pure heart. How is this accomplished? Vic quotes Mark 7:14-16 in which the Lord stated that nothing outside us can defile us but what proceeds out of our mouths; that can defile us. In Oh, No, Defiled Again, Vic says that we have many different things to blame for our defiled hearts (like foods?perhaps if the food is not organically raised, that would cause a defiled heart. Not that? Maybe eating meat is to blame for our defiled hearts, or maybe?if one is of the New Age belief system, astrology or numerology can tell us the reasons we can blame our defiled hearts on external forces which we aren?t responsible for.) No, says Jesus, our defilement stems from within and can be detected by what we say, therefore, by what we are thinking on a consistent basis. In Why We Should Trust Each Other, Vic suggests that we should be prepared IN ADVANCE, to forgive each other. If our main purpose is to follow Jesus and not be so concerned about the things of the world, this could be accomplished. Should this be our higher priority? Or should we remain secluded in our safety, free from the danger of others but also ?protected? from God?s methods of helping us obtain pure hearts? What do we want? In Suffering in Compliance or Defiance, Vic points out that whether we seek the Lord in all things or not, we are still going to suffer?but are we going to suffer as we comply with Jesus? commands to love each other or are we going to suffer in defiance as we ignore Jesus? commands to love even the unlovable? Suffering in compliance leads to eventual peace within while suffering in defiance leads to a kind of perpetual pain, a pain with no end, a pain that grows within and spreads into our world like weeds growing rampantly and no herbicide can control. The Good Samaritan saw someone who had been beaten by robbers and he cared for him. The leading religious leaders of the day had passed by the man, too busy to help. Jesus asked, ?Who was a good neighbor to this man?? Of course, it was the Samaritan. There are many people who are lying, spiritually injured in the road, run over by a philosophy that does not acknowledge Jesus as Lord and the giver of our salvation. Do we ignore them, passing them by because they are obnoxious to us, or we can?t love people of other faiths? Or do we show them we care and show them the love of Jesus? Extreme Christianity is available on Vic?s site as a free download: www.JoyfulChristianLiving.com/jesus.htm. This book asks some good questions and can help people who want to follow Jesus by doing more than giving Him lip service. It can help His followers by motivating them to love others even when it isn?t convenient or comfortable.
