Orphan Quest
(Nicole DiCanio)

Publicidade
Orphan Quest is the first in a series of books set on the Planet of Legends, where the mythology and folklore of Earth become reality. Here Santa Claus truly lives at the North Pole, and Lady Luck is a real deity. Many of the people and places are ?classical? and are may often be deemed stereotypical. The planet itself shapes its denizens, and molds them on dreams and tall tales. The closer the people live or travel toward the Continent of Legends, the more they are affected. Book One takes place on Trias, a land of aqua skies and blue grass. It is both a classical quest and a boy?s rite of passage into a man. It begins with Jason, a modern day teenager, being transported there and manifesting in a body called ?Basil?. According to Jason?s mentor, Rum Lin, Basil is merely Jason, his physical form changed to blend in with the world. His quest begins when Jason arrives at Castle Lightpool, and is asked to retrieve three missing statues and two jewels by the beautiful sorceress Lady Joeanne. These items will completely reawaken the power of The White Dragon Statue of Ages Past, and allow her to defeat her evil sister Raquel. At the castle he gains three companions. The first is a stalwart soldier Razen whose greatest talent and pride is his ability to speak the language of all intelligent beings. The second is the red headed Flipp her inner beauty hidden by her hard shell and biting tongue. Finally mute child Kinet with an affinity for wild life and a strange knack of invulnerability completes the party. As the companions travel across Trias and into the mysterious Land Beyond, Jason becomes more and more involved with a second voice in his head, as it speaks more frequently. It is the voice of Basil who is more real than either Rum Lin or Jason first gives him credit for being. Although they are technically two separate people, at least in the beginning, Basil is in many ways Jason, being his older and usually wiser Trias alter ego. Eventually, the forces of the land, and the rules that govern visitors from different planes, cause them to unite. By the end of his quest Jason the boy has transformed into Basil the man.
