Psalms
(The Bible)

Publicidade
The writer of Psalm 47 invites us to join in a joyous if explosive celebration of He who was, who is and who is to come, the only One really who is worthy of celebration. When we do this, those who do not know God will take note and they will be curious to know why we are so effusive in celebrating our God. They will ask us and we will be able to tell them about the great and wondrous exploits of our God in generations gone by. They will then be inclined to celebrate with us the goodness of God. We advertise the awesomeness of the Almighty when we engage in wild celebration in remembrance of His mercy which endures forever.

The Psalmist here reminds us, in case we have forgotten, that all things on earth, these include all peoples, are subject to our God. This God is the One who arms us against our foes who are hell-bent on annihilating us. We fall in defeat when we repose our trust and hope in anyone else or anything else.

Who else to praise then other than the One who reigns over all circumstances everywhere. Due to the fact that He reigns, we are supposed to reign in this life over circumstances and not be victims of circumstances. These are the things that set us apart and confirm that we belong to Him. He states further, ' God reigns over the nations. God sits on His holy throne.' This implies that as His people, He intends to rule and reign through us as this would be a testimony to the glory of His name. As God's people, therefore, we are supposed to be princes among the peoples of the world, that is, leaders, pace- setters and problem solvers in the world. This is the heritage He has chosen for us. As this is our portion, we need to know it and actually internalise the truth.
