As the investigation goes by, we start to know Rob better and better. The reader simple have to like the main charachter who is so lost, unserious and so afraid to make his dreams come true. Sometimes he acts as he was a boy, when for example he phones to Laura and hungs up just as he hears her voice. Finally, after meeting Rob at the funeral of her futher, Laura chooses to come back to him. She is a lawyer with succesfull career. She makes a decision to help Rob to find the most important things in his life,to find the way. With her own money she re-opens a club in which Rob used to be a DJ and where they met each other. Some kind of breaktrough in the novel is the scene of a dinner at Lauras friends house. Rob has a nice evening with fantastic people. Just a moment before leaving Laura makes him to look at the shelf with one of the worst collection of cd's he has ever seen. The book is something real great for music funs who would identify with the main character, as he judges people by gettig to know their best bands. It is a story about a guy who is afraid of being adult and puts the blame on the peolpe. As we go through the book we can see as he is getting more and more adult without loosing his youth ideals. "High Fidelity" simply and with humor treats about the problems of modern young people.
