Once there lived in forest plenty of birds. As eagle was known for its huge wings and sharp beak and eyesight it became king of that birds' forest. Though all birds felt initially happy in due course of time they found its atrocities as it was killing many birds whenever it felt hungry. One day all other birds gathered secretely to find an end to their King's cruelness. Peacock told that it like to become the head of the forest. Other senior birds suggested that it may not suit as the peacock would start dancing if it see the dark clouds in the sky and forget the duties of its position. Suddently a wood pecker told that it would become the leader of the forest.Other birds surprised to hear that as the woodpecker seemed so small and weak comparing the strength of Eagle. But the woodpecker determined in its decision. Then they discussed about the competition through which they can defeat eagle. Lastly they decided to ask the eagle to make a huge wooden branch into two and if it does let it continue to rule the forest and if it fails, then that chance should be given to woodpecker and if it wins then they would accept it as their leader.
Next day when eagle started to sit in its place, all birds shouted that they wanted that eagle should break a huge wood if it wants to continue to be the leader. Accordingly a long and thick wooden branch brought before the eagle. It tried with its beack many a times but finally it could not. However it shouted that no bird can do that and if any bird does it, then it would accept that bird as their whole leader. Immediately the small woodpecker came forward and humbly asked permission to do the job. Eagle with a mocking smile, permitted the bird to break the branch.
What a wonder! within a few minutes the long thick branch broke into two pieces. All birds appreciated the woodpecker. The eagle after accepting and apologising for its various misbehaviour flew away.
All other birds lived happily singing, dancing and cooing and so on.
