The Role Of Ambition In Life
(K.K.DIXIT)
THE ROLE OF AMBITION IN LIFE By : K.K.Dixit. Ambition is the product of MIND. It plays a vital role in building one?s character, either by helping him to reach the peaks of success or leads him to his downfall, without being aware of it. Ambition is the outcome of the multiplication of one?s desires. It is something imaginary and is concerned with his future. Ambition is something what we dream of, to achieve in future, a period which is yet to come. It sets a goal to be reached or a target to be achieved at. It is a relative term and is concerned which has deeply been concerned in relation to the present prevailing conditions. What a man is ?today?; and what he wants to be ?tomorrow?, is in fact the ?ambition?. This is the journey of desires which starts from ?today? and aims at to reach to ?to-morrow?. The question then arises as to how far one has to go, how fast one has to go, with all the resources and means available to him. It is the ?desire? which turns into ?ambition?, compelling a man to be in action. But every act must have intrinsic value, and one should not bother for results. The moment one bothers for results of his actions, it becomes the ?means? and the ?end? goes in ?future?. In practice, the means themselves should be the end, the path itself the goal, the action must be the duty to bring every moment the ?ultimate? one. This would bring oneself nearer to the fulfillment to his ambitions, and restrict him to be ?over-ambitious?. To be ambitious is good, but to be over-ambitious may be proved harmful. The difference between the ?ambitious? and ?over-ambitious? is, that of the distance, between the present circumstances prevailing at the start of this journey, and the goal to be achieved at, or the destination where this journey would end. History has witnessed the downfall of many of those who were over-ambitious like Napoleon and Hitler. Hence, to be ambitious is a MUST for the prosperity in life while to be over-ambitious is a senseless risk.
