This is the second book of the Midkemia-Saga. In this book two different worlds clash. They are at war and bleed to death. The book is an easy read even if one have not read the first book. Nevertheless it is recommended to have read the first book of the Saga since many events make more sence and lots of names take on faces. The reader meets again his good pals from the Midkemia-world. The war seperated friends and lovers, created new coalitions and destroyed villages and towns. The war only raged on Midkemia. In the other world, the attacking world of Kelewan, everything is quiet at first. The young Pug is in this foreign world. He is a slave. He assimilates well, quickly learns the language of the Tsurani and falls in love with a Tsuranian girl that reciprocates his feelings. By accident Pug's magical powers are discovered by a Magician of the Sublime Path who sends him to the Acadamy of Magic to study. There he receives a new name - Milamber and becomes a Sublime one himself. The Sublime Ones are above the law and are obligated to protect the Empire of Tsurani. Milamber has been raised according to that rule. As magician of two worlds Milamber-Pug is unable to become a Tsurani. After spoken up his mind and having showed his power he flees back to Midkemia
