Pure Drivvel
(Steve Martin)

Publicidade
Pure Drivvel found me. I was in the back of the library, just looking at books. One of my favorite movies is "The Man With Two Brains". Knowing that Steve Martin is one of the best writers in Hollywood, I picked up the book.

Let me say that the book, "Pure Drivvel", by Steve Martin, will by no means dissappoint.

My dad (God bless his soul), who often quoted poetry and literary text verbatum, however, after seeing Steve Martin's movie "The Jerk", he scoffed. How could a person be so stupid? How was that funny?

The reason "The Jerk" was funny was because it was so stupid. He looked so stupid. That part he did well.

However, the purposefully, very little, "Pure Drivvel", surpasses "The Jerk", by light years.

I am glad that I dont have to explain in further detail to my dad, more of this particular humor.

I can say though that, I did go into the reading of "Pure Drivvel", just as dad went into the movie "The Jerk", looking for a goodtime. Something funny.

Don't worry about that. There is nothing, not one word, of funny in Pure Drivvel.

It is the longest, dryest read, you will encounter.

It delivers upon its promise. Absolutely no fun.

The punchline comes after the desert-like experience.

Steve Martin's movie "The Jerk", was just the primer

for the book, Pure Drivvel.

Only this time, the fool, is not only the writer, but the reader.

Widening our vistas now. I laugh again.
