Gone With The Wind
(MARGARET MITCHELL)

Publicidade
GONE WITH THE WIND is the greatest love story of our time, the story of Scarlett O?Hara and Rhett Butler? MARGARET MITCHELL?s monumental epic of the south won a Pulitzer Prize, gave rise to the most popular motion picture of our age, and inspired a sequel, SCARLETT that became the fastest selling novel of the century.
GONE WITH THE WIND is one of the most popular books ever written; more than 28 million copies of the book have been sold in more than 37 countries. Today, more than half a century after its initial publication, its achievements are unparalleled, and it remains the most revered American saga and the most beloved work by an American writer.
Scarlett O?Hara is a vain young woman who is spoilt by too much attention by the opposite sex. She is the belle of the town she lives in and no guy can escape her once she decides to lure him in except Ashley. He is the only man who ever said ?no? to her which is the only reason she obsesses about him throughout the story. In the end though she realizes that she doesn?t love him but her husband Rhett. However her realization comes too late, Rhett leaves her after uttering the most famous sentence that readers throughout the world remember: ?My dear, I don?t give a damn.?
Even though we don?t like Scarlett much and there are times when we actually hate her as much as the characters in the book hate her, we can?t help but admire her courage and her unconquerable will. She achieves things that are inconceivable for a woman living in her day and age: coming out in public when she is pregnant for one thing. The one line that keeps her going through all the difficulty has become a famous motto now, ?Tomorrow is another day?.
