If This Is A Man / Survival In Auschwitz
(Primo Levi)

Publicidade
A short, honest and harrowing account of life in Auschwitz, this is a book which perhaps should be in every household as a reminder of what that which we call 'humanity' is capable of. Written in the first person, the book traces the years of Primo Levi from his entrance into the concentration camp up to the day the camp is deserted and the few remaining survivors find their way back to civilisation. The language is plain and sincerity reigns throughout. There is no gore or sensationalism - just a brutally honest diary of the horrors of semi-existence, the pains of starvation and brutality. It is not a tale of glorified heroes. It is a tale of the unacknowledged and hidden courage of just one survivor. Intelligently written by a very clever man, this does not make for light-hearted reading. Neither does it preach or nag on a theme which 'we've all heard before'. It is a story that is told because it needed to be told. No more.
