Beneath The Pyramid
(Christian Jacq)

Publicidade
Beneath The Pyramid is the first volume of the Judge of Egypt
trilogy. It is based in Ancient Egyptian historical fact, with
plenty of imaginative fiction thrown in.

Judge Pazair is a young man living in Memphis, the country's economic
capital. He loves his work and is committed to being as thorough
and just as he possibly can. He stumbles on a document stating
that the five Honour Guards, who protect the Sphinx, have been retired
to the country. He doesn't understand why these men have all
decided to leave their jobs at the same time, so he decides to
investigate further.

He discovers that they have all been murdered, an unusual crime in
Egypt at that time. Pazair then tries to uncover the names of the
murderers, which leads him into a world of suspense and intrigue.
He is aided by his spiritual brother, Suti and a beautiful woman
doctor, Neferet, whom he falls deeply in love with. They don't
realise that they are involved in a crime far more serious than that of
murder. The throne of Ramses II and the traditions and happiness
of the Egyptian people are in jeopardy.
