Psalms
(The Bible)

Boldly presenting what appears to be the relevant syllabus to all those who may wish to present themselves to be examined and thus qualify to stand on heaven's tableland, the Psalmist, in Psalm 15, leaves no one in doubt. This becomes necessary, considering that the Almighty's celestial courts are out of bounds to all who decide to alienate themselves from him by the way they live.

First among the ones to be admitted into God's holy hill will be truthful, straight-talking lovers of integrity. Certainly, the chances are that these are the only ones most likely to reflect the Lord's own character. Likewise, there is no way the Lord will bar from entering, those who use their tongues sparingly, who do unto others what they would like others to do unto them and who do not just pay lip service to friendship.

Continuing, the writer states that God will also be enthusiastic to welcome men and women of strong character who, despite the risks, will be prepared to stand up to the evil ones regardless of their reputations and influence. To be allowed to inhabit this level of spiritual sublimity, one must also be a lover of godly people by respecting them and vowing never to make their lives a hell.

Another attribute which those who hope to dwell in God's exalted tabernacle must possess is the grace to be fiercely loyal to their own words no matter the consequences. They must be people who would not take financial advantage of others, that is, they must not use their financial muscle to pulverise the less privileged. Finally, they must not be people who would accept gratifications in order to pervert the course of justice, remembering that they themselves are subject to the Judge of all, the Almighty.
