Long time ago, there lived a philosopher. His name was Vidhya Sagar. His name itself showed how great he was. The meaning of the name is ocean of arts. He was leading a very simple life, though he had sufficient money. Eveyone in his area admired him and he was supposed to be the best person of that village.
In the same village, many many rich people were also living. They had high regards with Vidhya Sagar. Many of them wanted to invite him to their homes. One day one of them came to Vidhya Sagar's house and requested to him to participate in his house function. He was celebrating a festival in his house. Vidhya Sagar accepted his invitation and promised to attend the fuction.
On the day of the function, as usual, he dressed in a very simple way and walked to the rich man's home. He could see many chariots and carts in front of his home and there were many rich persons, who were very busy with the function. When he tried to enter into his home, the security person at the gate, refuesed to permit him to go inside the home.
He explained everything to that man and tried to persuade him but failed. He said that he was not satisfied with the explanations and further said that his Master would have not sent the invitation to him, since he was sure that his master did not like the poor people.
Vidhya Sagar wanted to teach him a lesson. So he returned without attending the function.
In his home he changed all the dresses and wore a very expensive and handsome coats and with a rich man's look and again he went there. This time the guard at the gate even did not look at him and he showed the way and accompanied him to the dinner hall. At the dinning table, Vidhya Sagar was asking his coats to eat the food. He even did not touch the food and only asking his dress to eat the food.The persons Who were seeing all these, were surprised.The matter reached the rich man. Atonce he came to his table and enquired about it. He said that when first time he came with the simple dress, he was not allowed to enter the house and again with these rich dress,he was not only allowed but also was accompanied to the dinner hall. The permission was given to the dress and the invitation meant for his cloths and not for him. Immediately the rich man ordered to bring his servant and asked him to pay respects to Vidhya Sagar. After this, the security man requested Vidhya Sagar to forgive him for his acts. But Vidhya Sagar thanked him for the opportunity given by him to learn the lesson that you have to dress and act according to the situations.
