Animal Farm
(Goerge Orwell)
Goerge Orwell created a story that deeply touched the heart in the book "Animal Farm". The animals, having overthrown the oppresive rule of the humans in Manor farm (or should we call it man's farm?)they turned it to a farm solely for the animals.Definitely, the new animal society would now be a blissful egalitarian state. The animals thought. But they were very wrong because a ruling class soon emerged - the pigs: Napoleon and Snowball being at the forefront of leadership tussle. What's more, Napoleon expelled Snowball and then constituted himself into a ruthless dictator. Opression, killings, starvation, hardlabor, selfishness and deception wildly marked his reign. Yet one thing consoled the animals, their own government was still in power. Boxer's story was the most pathetic, being a very strong horse, he demostrated patroitism by standing loyal till old age to his two mottos. No doubt, Napoleon was his hero. But for Napoleon to have sent such a loyal citizen like Boxer to death, when he should be enjoying his retirement is most painful to the reader. The animals who had considered themsleves a sovereign state that was free from all human interference now saw that this reasoning was an illusion. And they had defended this illusion twice in their two battles against humans. Although, they won those battles gallantly, their victory was actually no victory at all because to their dismay, they later saw the pigs violating all the spirit of animalism. Open friendship, leagues and trades took place between humans and pigs. It was at this point that the proletariat among the animals realised how far they had been tricked and trapped. How sad. Orwell's use of allegory in this book had enabled him passed across his message very well.
