The Da Vinci Code
(Brown)

Publicidade
This book was published last year and was released into the shops in a blaze of glory. I happened to
be passing a bookshop in Dublin and noticed an array of books in the window entitled "The Da Vinic Code".
I liked the cover of the book and the blurb, and always judging the book by its cover, and being bored I decided to
purchase a copy for the long train journey ahead to Cork. I began reading the book as the train took off with a furtive interest,
flying through page after page. I liked it in parts but I found the riligous mumble jumbo tiring and soon stopped reading.
Many weeks later when I was in Crosshaven, relaxing over a pint of Murphy's at Ford Yacht I sat in the sun looking at all the
sailor jacket style folk who make my stomach sick. This trumped up guy with one of those middle class English accents began
to speak near by, "nice day etc etc" babble talk. I listened on and thought nothing much until he happened to mention: "I was reading a book
there last week, 'the da Vinci code' it really got me thinking". He began describing the ins and outs the etc etc of the whole plot
practically ruining it for anyone nearby who had not read it.
I wondered on and met many more others like him in the passing weeks who had started reading or who had read the book.
It was taking over I thought. Can something like this that is marketed so well, sell sell sell, just based on marketing alone or am I a scenic, maybe.
