Moon Over Manhattan

Really great holiday read for those people who just want to sit back and enjoy the comedic elements of a story. Chapters are short and concise and easily understandable, even though the action flits between different characters. It feels like a very pacey book. You know that the characters are obviously based on the authors experience, which makes them stand out as wacky, but real. Many of them are like caricatures of the people they are supposed to be, which makes it very funny to read. The plot highlighted that feeling in all of us that we're trying to strive for something better in our lives. I would compare the book to an American sitcom, as it contained multiple storylines and the characters were very colourfull. Don't expect the intellectual disection of society but do relish the struggles of all the characters, as they move through development arcs. It is probably better classed as a farce and that is what is delivered here with all the usual ingredients.
