Anne Of Green Gables
(L.M. Montogmery)

Anne of green Gables is a fabulous tale of an orphan girl Anne who pops into calm and serene life of Marilla and her shy husband Cuthbert. The story is a normal one that twists and bends into shape with regular and predictable bumps. Throughout the story the emphasis remains on the sharp eyed and sharp minded who adds flavor into the story and enlivens it. A lively, chirrupy, chatty and confident girl, who knows how to use imagination as a powerful tool. It is her unique personality, which captures readers and characters eyes and drives them into fascinating ? gyrates of imagination? The first bump in the story occurs in the form of appearance of Anne instead of the boy that was expected. This was the time when readers and characters met with this fascinating character ready to wash away everyone with her ready imagination. The decision of keeping her was twisted but predictable in a way that would keep the reader hooked. Then came Anne?s predictable friendship with the next-door neighbor Diana. Anne?s first day at school and her get up was another shade of her character. Several other shades of this color were introduced including Anne?s miserable attempts at dying her fiery red hair into black, her baking tipses, getting her best friend drunk and her encounter with Gilbert who is also the romance in the story, which comes to a predictable however with proper twists. Anne?s success at school and then later in her further education also counts for a predictable end. However, it is her sunny, imaginative and unpredictable personality that turns this story into a masterpiece. Anne of Green Gables is such a simple but interesting character that will amuse both children and adults alike.
