The narrator of the novel is fourteen years old Susie Salmon, who speaks to the reader from heaven. Raped and murdered by a nice neighbour, who is at the same time a serial rapist, she observes life on earth going on without her: friends and family not losing hope that she will someday be found, her little brother trying to understand the meaning of the words "she's gone", the killer removing the traces of the crime and the police searching for her. She tours the unusal place called heaven immense, where she lives and where every of her wishes is fulfilled immediately - except she cannot return to people who she loves. A book where a horrible tragedy - the death of a child - turns into a full of hope and happiness story of love, adolescence, healing soul, memory and forgetting....
