The Proud Deer
Long ago in a jungle lived a young and proud deer. He was very proud of his pair of large and beautiful antlers. Wherever he went, he would show off his antlers to the other animals. The other animals agreed that his antlers were indeed beautiful. The deer also had very strong legs which helped him to run very fast.
One day the deer was thirsty and started looking for water. He found a small lake at the edge of the forest. The deer bent down to drink water. As soon as he did so he heard some sounds behind a bush. When he went to see what it was he saw that it was the voices of three hunters. Suddenly he stepped on a twig and the hunters heard it. They started chasing the deer with guns. The deer ran for his life. His strong legs carried him very fast and he could hear the wind howling in his ears. Suddenly his antlers got entangled in a bunch of thick brambles. The hunters caught up with him and caught him in their nets. The deer came to know that it was his ugly legs which helped him to run very fast while his antlers which betrayed him.
