Pride And Prejudice
(JANE AUSTEN)

Publicidade
Jane Austen demonstrates within this beautiful classic tale the folly of judging people by first impressions. She deftly evokes in her readers that human nature is prone to pride, pride usually relates to our own opinions of ourselves and her female character Elizabeth epitimizes this truth.

Jane Austin presents us with a romantic comedy with her main characters being Elizabeth Bennett and the male character, a tall, handsome and very eligible batchelor, Fitzwilliam D'arcy. His character is conceited and highly distainful of the feelings of others and hence their relationship commences with a hatred. Elizabeth could not understand his obnoxious, conceited and arrogant manner and held him in high disgust.

As the novel continues you catch a glimpse of D'arcy's admiration for this woman even thought he tried so hard to hide it from her and from himself. This excellent classic is formed around the pride of D'Arcy and the prejudice of Elizabeth and this is an excellent centerpiece for the entire affair.

This classic novel envokes friendship, the snobbery of middle-classed people and the values of marriage. Towards the end of the novel you find that D'Arcy is not as cold a gentleman as he first seems and that Elizabeth is not as prejudiced as she first appears. You will find that the feisty character of Elizabeth begins to unfold and the reader can clearly see that she does not fully understand the workings of her own emotions.

Jane Austin wrote this classic novel in the 1800's and she clearly shows us the undercurrants of social bias and the harsh expectations placed on the women of the day to marry into their social strata. In reading this book you will be highly rewarded by the excellence and depth of characters and the author's excellent attention to detail. Austin's writing contains a contemporary form of romance in the format of this timeless classic masterpiece
