A Day Called Hope
(GARETH O'CALLAGHAN)
A searingly honest story of a very public Irish figure who had to daily cope with depression. This is a very candid and courageous account whereby he brings his readers back to his early childhood when he suffered from OCD - constantly checking if doors were locked, counting etc., and if he was to be disturbed during this ritual he would have to commence from the beginning again. Gareth O'Callaghan worked in the radio media and nobody could have possibly guessed at the terrors he experienced, whilst on air he was a fun-filled "Good Morning Everybody", type of presenter. The author brings us on an extraordinary journey through the minefields of depression. He is very honest in relating how if effected his family life and how, eventually, it may have cost him his job as a top presenter. Today, Gareth O'Callaghan now councils people who suffer from the ailment. This book shows us clearly what it is to live with depression and with the author's immense knowledge, insight and wisdom, brings the reader from the bottom of a deep dark hole towards the light. An excellent and compelling read.
