(Roald Dahl)

Publicidade
This book is one great adventure for both young and oler readers. Little Charlie is living with his father, mother and two grandfathers and grandmothers in a very small house on the edge of a big city. They are not exactly rich: the grandparents sleep with four in the same bed and the food is not much more than watery soup. It is a warm, friendly home though... Not far from the house, there is an enormous factory. Everyday after dinner Grandpa Joe tells wonderful stories about that mysterious factory, that is running day and night and spreads the most wonderful smells, but where no-one ever has seen anyone enter... One day, there is big news: Willie Wonka is inviting 5 children to visit his factory. The ones who find a gold wrapper in a wonka chocolate bar will be the lucky few. The country is in a frenzy and a run for the chocolate bars follows. Soon several gold wrappers are found, but the fifth remains elusive. Just on the day before the visit Charlie finds a dollar in the street. He buys one of those delicious Wonka bars with it...On the big day he goes to the factory with Grandpa Joe and they meet the other four lucky winners and their parents, all of which are remarkable personalities. The first one is Mike Teevee, a boy who likes nothing better than watching television (espaecially when there's a lot of shooting on). Veruca Salt is a terrribly spoilt girl (her dad bought chocolate bars until a wrapper was found). The third is Violet Beauregarde, who holds the record of chewing the longest on a single piece of chewing gum and last there is Augustus Gloop: a glutinous boy. Willie Wonka has prepared a fabulous tour of the factory. Inside a world of wonders awaits the children, in which they meet the Oompa-Loompas that are employed by Willie Wonka and see all the great inventions he has made to make his delicious goods. One by one the children disappear in the adventure. The first one to go is Augustus Gloop, he falls into the chocolate river when he wants to drink to eagerly from it. Violet Bearegarde tries a chewing gum - and turns into a chewing gum bubble herself. Veruca Salt gets into a fight with nut cracking squirrels - she wants to take one home but that is not so easy. Finally Mike Teevee disappears into a TV machine: to return from it very small. Suddenly only good charlie and his Grandpa are left, but the journey full of surprises is not over yet. together with Willie Wonka they travel through the whole factory in a glass elevator. Eventually they land near Charlie's house - to pick everybody up: Willie Wonka gives him his factory!
