Resumo de Adrian Mole- The Cappuccino Years

Pretty straightforward humor and not overly dramatic is this diary of Adrian Mole, the principal character. Mole is a chef at Hoi Polloi and an aspriring writer. It starts with the forthcoming election of Tony Blair as prime minister and Mole being privy to the election results courtesy of a friend predicting victory for Blair. Mole is a die-hard Labor supporter and his first girlfriend, Dr. Pandora Braithwaite was elected MP for Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Moles electorate. Mole finds himself a single father as his wife Jo Jo left him and their son William to return to Nigeria. He left his son to live with his parents George and Pauline. He found his father in a depressed state because of sexual dysfunction and being out of job. He discovered his mother having an affair with Ivan Braithwaite, Pandora's father. She is starting to neglect William and Adrian had to rush home now and then to see to his welfare as his father neglects him too while left in his care. When Peter Savage, the owner of Hoi Polloi became an alcoholic because of his marital problems he neglected the restaurant. It was raided and closed for sanitation breaches. Mole's savior would be the cooking pay television series called 'Offaly Good' they have offered to him which will showcase offal as the main ingredient which would be popular for students on a tight budget. Savage planned to sell Hoi Polloi and start an oxygen bar with his now reconciled wife Kim. He gave notice to Adrian to vacate his upstairs flat. He started shooting and they paired him with Dev and Indian comedian to make the show more lively.The story seems more realistic because it was interwoven with real life stories like the Monica nad Clinton affair. Pandora actually found out about Ivan and Pauline's affair and she and Adrian were concerned that the scandal would leak out sometime. Now Adrian is contemplating how to earn his living after his show is finished and how to have his novel published which was rejected a few times. Eventually, the affair between Ivan and Pauline came out before the News of the World exposed it. Pandora's live-in lover was also spilling the beans to the media about her life and affairs to pay off debts. Later, Pauline and Ivan were married and they live at her home in Wisteria and George went to share Tania's house as a lodger first. Later they become lovers too. William lived with Ivan and Pauline and happily adjusted because of presents bought by Ivan. The press is hounding both families. Meanwhile, Adrian got an offer to write a cookbook called 'Offaly Good'. Adrian has moved into his family home back by then and when Ivan moved in he and his sister Rosie could not get along with Ivan. Later Rosie left to live with her boyfriend and got pregnant. Adrian helped to persuade her to have an abortion because she was too young to be a mother. Later Adrian found that a former girlfriend who now lives with another man has a son that was actually his after blood testing. He inherited a house from a guy he met while servicing the elderly during the elction who left his house to him. His son Glenn from his girlfriend came to live with him and William. He had somebody tutor Glenn for he was behind and the woman, Eleanor who came to tutor him became obsessed with him. She became jealous after watching the house at night and saw Pandora sleep there and burned the house down.
