Conjura Of The Fools
(John Kennedy Toole)

Publicidade
It is an unforgettable tragicomedy that has already been transformed into a real classic in the literature of North America. Ignatius J. Really is the name of a nihilistic Quixotic character, resentful with society, fond of comics and unaprehensible books, whose condition of genius not understood is enough excuse to live out of his mother at the age of thirty two, without having finished any studies, not wanting to work, and locking himself in his room to avoid the reality of a world from which he considers himself not of his. This character, so grotesque and funny, is the maximum prototipe of the loser or the antihero. The author uses many details to describe him, in his physionomy as well as in his habits, trying to forge an uncomfortable mirror of the North American middle class. A fat man with a green cap in his head is already told apart among a crowd, in the beginning of the novel, in the streets of New Orleans. From this moment this character becomes more and more visible and will meet other characters that will be real colaborators in this hilarious and, at the same time tragic, work that represents an always present icon of the current North American society.
