Nutrition And Physical Degeneration
(Weston A. Price)
In the 1930s, W. Price was a dentist who traveled around the world looking for cultures that have been untouched by modern cultures influence on diet and than he looked at the peoples teeth to postulate their overall health and what that means for us as a modern people. What he found may be shocking and is still very much informative in todays time. He found that people from a traditional society had a natural instinct for the foods they needed and had nearly perfect dental structure, wide cheekbones, beautifully symmetrical, wide dental arches, and great bone density like what today is unseen. The people were graceful, intelligent, happy, and generous without motives. However, he also found groups of people who wandered from their native, untouched diets and in one generation had much greater incident of dental carries(cavity of any kind), diseases and disorders such as: tuberculosis, club foot, crowded teeth, narrowing nostril passages and others. In the 1930''s, when Mr. Price wrote this book people were starting use refined sugar and refined flour in abundance, and take advantage of organ meats and fish less often. Today, it is much worse. This book offers solutions to many complicated issues and problems today by returning to simple healthy eating. This book also contradicts current theory that saturated fats are what is causing disease today. He was a great advocate of using butter from pasture fed cows on rapidly growing grass for its vitamin A content along with cod liver oil. Anyone who is baffled at the number of health disorders to people today of all ages and the lack of efficiency we are capable of working with, this book will provide a refreshing take that has been been long buried from our knowledge. I rate this book five out of five stars, a must read.
