Retiring head received papal honour - is a line grabbing your attention as you would
expect to read this in Ireland or Italy or some staunchly 100 per cent Roman
Catholic Country so I am always surprised at Pope Benedict''s current
habit of awarded the Protestant countries "honours". Possibly its due,
in no small measure to the contribution made to Catholic Education by this
Headteacher. But there is often criticism of this less than generous view
that all us "poor Catholics" are slaving away in RC Countries and His Holiness
Pope Benedict takes not the slightest notice of anything we do. Any way
enough of sour grapes and all congratulations to the Portsmouth People
for bringing to the attention of the faithful the great success of Chris Whitfield,
and even though he is retired here in the UK he is going on to take up a position
as Principal of St Stephen''s International School in Bangkok in the middle of
September ... he positively shines like a star in the midst of doom and gloom
weatherwise in this country.
Anyway its Bank Holiday weekend and the communities are enjoying themselves, so its interesting to take a moment or two to read People and pictures and an article on the magnificent seven which refers to the students for the priesthood.
There was a great hullaballoo today about the department of the curate from this Parish of Southampton to go further afield to Basingstoke outside London - so Bye! Bye!
