Atlas Shrugged
(Ayn Rand)
who is John Galt ?
Ayn Rand''s Magnum Opus, Atlas Shrugged explores a plethora of philosophical themes that Rand subsequently developed into the philosophy of Objectivitism. The book is split into three parts. It capers mostly around Dagny Taggart, a no nonsense Railway Executive and the female hier of a kingdom of railway owners. She tries her best to save the Company from collapsing even after repeated encroachments by a society ill with collectivism , alltruism and statism. Dagny hates the platitude often repeated by people , "who is John Galt" as it is a symbol of their helplessness and lack of interest to find answers. Great Business leaders detest the socialistic society which has fallen prey to self made bureaucrats with absolute power, anarchy of a different form. Business tycoons with the brains, capability and vigour dissappear into thin air. Hank Rearden a self made man in controversy due to the metal he found and named after himself, " rearden", along with dagny fights to stay put. Not to let the anarchists rule over.
Who is John galt is explained later in the book. John galt is extremely unpleased with those non productive people who use laws and guilts to rule with the money of the productive ones. The biggest leaders or businnessmen who dissappear make a world of their own. It so happens Hank and Dagny regret having a futile battle against the collapsing world under law using anarchists who contribute absolutely nothing to the society. Its a book of capitalistic philosophy mostly.
