This joyful (literally) book of photographs and sayings spans the globe -- all races, ages, sexes, classes, and conditions of people, rejoicing, sharing, hugging, talking, laughing---enjoying each other, enjoying themselves, enjoying life. It will inspire and bring joy to nearly anyone. This book was inspired by the 1950s photographic exhibition THE FAMILY OF MAN. It began as the result of part of a worldwide search for photograpic images showing mankind''s Moments of Intimacy, Laughter, and Kinship (M.I.L.K.). 17,000 photographers from 164 countries submitted over 40,000 photographs. 300 winning images were chosen and were initially published in three collections: FAMILY, FRIENDSHIP, and LOVE, early in the year 2001. The photographs in the book are a selection of these, published with little sayings that exemplify and are illustrated by the pictures nearby in this delightful book. In the back is a list of the photographers who took these pictures, along with a short explanation of each picture, as well as a small postscript at the end of the book explaining the M.I.L.K. project and the origin of the idea for this book itself.
