Chilling Moments......the Kuwait Diary!

I do remember everything from my kuwait experience, since i had prepared a 3 hour cassette, narrating everything that i went thru from 2nd aug to 29th aug, the day i reached baroda.
a chilling moment stands out in my memory. once we were at narendrabhai''s place, a few of us, sharing whatever news we had, i guess we were a week into this invasion, everyone was eager to find out when and how cud we get back to india. as we were having chai, narendra bhai got a call, he spoke for a few mins, and then kept back the reciever, and was back with us, but very silent and tense. i enquired if something was wrong.
the call was from a friend of his. some iraqis had entered their building, and wanted to do a house search. a flat belonging to an indian family was marked, and they wanted the guy and kids out, and the lady to remain inside while they searched. the lady started screaming and pleading, but those bastards werent willing to listen. there was a huge commotion and everyone was out of their homes to see what had happened. quite a few other flat members begged with the soldiers to leave the lady alone, however they refused, and began pointing guns. it was then this friend, called narendrabhai and asked if something cud be done.
narendrabhai tried calling a few kuwaiti friends but cudnt get any response, of course in such a situation, no one cud have helped. we all felt so angry, and helpless at the same time.the ladies looked too tense, undertandably so... for the first time the serious and grave reality hit us very hard. we were under siege... a ruthless army, and no one to turn to for protection.
had read so many war novels, watched world war movies, and here i was, co close to atrocities perpetrated by an army occupying another country....cant ever get over this experience.........god knows how millions must have suffered till now, world over..........god save them from further sufferings
