Artemis Fowl contains some stunning humour and ingenuity. It also keeps up a fair amount of psychological suspense as readers wonder whether Artemis can really be as bad as he seems. Then there''s the question of whether Artemis and his minions will survive the fairies'' attack. Artemis thinks he will. The rest of the world are more doubtful.
The only downside to Artemis Fowl is some of the juvenile humour. readers who appreciate the cleverer humour will not be impressed by this "how gross can you get" style. I found that the rest of the book did more than make up for it.
Artemis Fowl is ultimately a great book. It gets 4 stars from me.
