Hemingway & Bailey''s
(Edward Hemingway and Mark Bailey)

Publicidade
A bartender guide to Great American Writers. Being a writer myself, the Public Library has everything I want. In a search for an old classic, I came across this little gem.
This little book is pack full of interesting bits of information about some of our most beloved authors, writers and poets that go back as far as the eighteen hundreds to this present day. These authors, writers and journalists that included are Nobel Laureates, Pulitzer Prize Winners and Academy Award Winners, came from all walks of life. This little book is filled with hilarious information, you won''t find in their bios.
We all know that writers are in a league of their own, but in this little easy reading journal you get to see a side very few readers see.  I learned about the eccentric side of some of our most famous writers within these pages.Everyone in this book drinks and it shares with the reader the writer''s favorite cocktail recipe, along with his and hers accomplishments and inside information into their personalty, silly quotes and stories, including bits and pieces of some of their most memorable works. I had a blast with book.  I am sure you will too!
To mention just a few, Hunter S Thompson, a journalist and novelist favorite drink called the Greyhound is quoted, "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they''ve always work for me." Passed in 2005 and held a thirst and hunger for all the above including a healthy appetite.  Edger Allen Poe, a classic poet is quoted, " The desire for society come upon me only hen I have become excited by drink." His favorite cocktail was the Sazerac, with ingredients more then alcohol.  You''ll love the small poem found on the wall of the Washington Tavern, in Lowell, Mass. that is quoted here. He had a great way with words and one of my most favorite poets of all time.
Since this book was found on the hunt for Earnest Hemingway his favorite drink called the Jojito and is quoted, "A man does not exist until he is drunk."  Then how about John Steinbeck, his favorite drink, the Jack Rose is quoted, "Only lust and gluttony are worth a darn."  Not to leave out the ladies. Anne Sexton favorite drink, the Kir Royale and quoted, "I have a martini and feel more, real."
Or the great satirist, Dawn Powell''s favorite drink, Dubonnet Cocktail is quoted, "Learn to be very stingy very soon, and drink alone in the dark."  One of my favorite is James Thurber who likes his Brandy Alexander is quoted, "One martini is all right.  Two are too many, and three are not enough."
Many of theses great writers died at a young age from their wild ways, but they will forever live in eternity through their writings.  This book just shows how human they all were.
