Lessons I Learned In The Dark Steps To Walkling By Faith, Not By Sight
(Jennifer Rothschild)
Steps to Walking By Faith, Not By Sight By Jennifer Rothschild is a book on the life and experiences of a young, blind girl who grows up to be a warm, sensitive, christian woman, wife, mother, speaker, author, and recording artist. Jennifer Rothschild''s eyesight starts deteriorating near the end of junior high school. Her paprents took her to an ophthalmologist that prescribed stronger eye glasses, but they didn''t help. Later she was told by dorctors at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute that she had retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative disease that slowly eats away the retina of the eye. There was no cure and at fifteen Jennifer would be totally blind. Jennifer and her parents were devastated. Jennifer had learned to play the piano a few years earlier and she found solace in her music and her Faith in God. She learns many of life''s lessons when times are good and circumstances easy and others she learned only in season of hardship, loss, and great darkness. She says although suffering can be the harshest of headmasters, its curriculum may open the door to freedom beyond our loftiest expectations. Jennifer Rothschild says that the greatest lesson that she learned in the dark is this: Sometimes its only in the adversity we dread that we begin to discover the kind of life we''ve only dreamed of. Jennifer is an overcomer. She learned to move around freely with her mobility instructor and the assistance of a trained dog. She graduated from college and married her college sweetheart. They had two boys, Clayton and Connor. Jennfier is truly amazing in this book. She learns to apply makeup flawlessly although she''s blind. She speaks at conferences and seminars. She travels across the country by plane with her dog and God. She is a very good mother and homemaker. She cooks for her family, washes their clothes, and she does everything that you and I can do with seeing eyes. She has her down days about being blind, but she also has her faith in God to pick her up. She often wondered why God didn''t heal her and she learned her greatest lesson on learning to wait from her son, Clayton. Her son Clayton told her that he didn''t think God would heal her here on earth. He told her that if God healed you here on earth, you might love earth more, and heaven is best. God says that the righteous walk by faith and not by sight. We don''t need physical eyes to see God. We need spiritual eyes. Eyes of Faith.
